Sea Travel to Alonissos

The high speed crossing by hydrofoil from Agios Konstantinos or Volos to Alonissos takes around 2¾ hours while the ferry takes about 5 hours.  From Skiathos the crossing takes around 1½ hour on the hydrofoil and around three hours by ferry.

When the winter timetable is in force there is a limited daily service to Alonissos from Volos and Agios Konstantinos via Skiathos.  The summer timetable starts mid-June to mid-September and the number of crossings to the island of Alonissos improves significantly.  The main problem encountered by most travellers is that certain departures are very popular and quickly get booked.  Danger times are Friday and Sunday afternoons when Greeks spend weekends away, either side of Greek bank holidays and also travel company transfer days when they block-book seats for their clients.
