Rock The Night Away With The Aloni Band |

Alonissos has its own rock band led by Chester and consisting of a group of musicians made up of full-time island residents and visiting home owners. During the winter the sounds of "band practice" can be heard drifting across the valley towards Megalos Mourtias from the hallowed halls of Chester's music room. During the summer the band can be found performing mainly at Taverna Aloni and occasionally at the Arhondostasi (a.k.a Mary's Bar) in the Old Village or at the Pleiades in Patitiri. The mainstay of the band are:
Chester on acoustic guitar and lead vocals The musicians are supplemented by the lovely Lyn and Beau on vocals. At various times of the year the band adds other members coming back to the island including Ron on harmonica and percussion, Spencer, Gavin and Nigel on guitar and Penny on acoustic guitar and vocals. Friends who visit the island are also encouraged to perform either with the band or by doing a solo spot. The groups repertoire consists of songs by Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel, Rolling Stones, Lynard Skynard as well as a whole host of other famous singers and song writers which are too numerous to mention. Nothing is fixed so local knowledge is necessary to find out when and where the band are playing but if you are staying on Alonissos during the summer then make an effort to come along to one of the music nights. Our advice is not to arrive before 10pm and be prepared to see the sun rise!!! Some pictures of the group in action can be seen below: |
