Presentation of the Life and Works of Odysseus Elytis in Taverna Panselinos - 17th December 2011

This is Anastasia Markou who gave a very fascinating and professional presentation of the life and works of Greek Nobel Prize winning poet Odysseus Elytis to a packed audience in the main downstairs area of Taverna Panselinos on the evening of Saturday 17th December, ably assisted by Alonissos resident and poet Simon Darragh.  This is the third such presentation following talks on the artists Monet earlier this year and De la Croix last year.  Simon gave an introduction and later read an example of the poet's work in English before the bulk of the presentation given by Anastasia in Greek which consisted of different video clips of the poet interspersed with a spoken narrative.
Below are some photographs taken during the presentation which lasted around 1 hour.  The start of the presentation was delayed by about 10 minutes because we were late arriving.  You can imagine our embarrassment when we walked in and especially when Simon pointed out that it was unusual for events to be held up by Englsih people rather than Greeks!!  Still, it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and we look forward eagerly to Anastasia's next event.
