Rock The Night Away With The Aloni Band |
| Alonissos has its own rock band led by Chester Smith made up of full-time island residents. During the winter the sounds of "band practice" can be heard drifting across the valley towards Megalos Mourtias from the hallowed halls of Chester's music room. During the summer you can see the "oldest rock and roll band on Alonissos" performing outside Taverna Panselinos in the Old Village to large crowds of residents and visitors who sing along to the music and dance the night away. The gigs usually start at 9.30pm and the dates can be seen on the band's posters which are put up around the Old Village and in Patitiri. An example of a poster is shown below: |

The Aloni band are:
Bert (Animal) Dendy on drums The band's repertoire includes numbers by the Beatles, Genesis, Rolling Stones, Lynard Skynard, Queen, Creedence Clearwater Revival, etc. as well as a whole host of other famous groups and singers which are too numerous to mention here. Chester Smith and Chris Browne also play live music around the island at different venues during the summer. Some pictures of the group in action can be seen below: |
